December 2011: the new Madonna di Campiglio, Val Rendena, Val di Sole ski area opens
Thrilling pistes and modern lifts are going to connect Pinzolo, in Val Rendena, to Val di Sole, with Madonna di Campiglio in the centre. This is the new ski area Campiglio Val Rendena Val di Sole, where skiers and snowboarders will enjoy new experiences from December 2011. Nestled in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites - Unesco World Natural Heritage - with its 150 km of interconnected ski slopes, the ski area is the largest in the entire Trentino region.
The new Pinzolo Campiglio Express gondola lift, the one with the best panoramic view, will shortly link Pinzolo with Madonna di Campiglio, surrounded by a wonderful scenery among the most spectacular landscapes of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park.
The new ski area
From the Doss del Sabion in Pinzolo, the Pinzolo Campiglio Express gondola lift will reach the 5 Laghi area north of the legendary Canalone Miramonti in Madonna di Campiglio in just 16 minutes. 5 km long, it climbs 1.110 meters and has 4 stations: 2 departure/arrival stations and 2 intermediate stations. Currently the ski link to Val di Sole starts from the Pradalago area. The ski area, from 850 to 2.500 mt, has 93 ski runs (44 beginner, 35 intermediate, 14 advanced), 62 lifts with a capacity of 90.000 people per hour and a 95% coverage for artificial snow.
The most important step towards the enlargement of the ski area has been completed in December 2010 with the opening of the Tulot gondola lift (second lift starting directly from Pinzolo) and the DoloMitica slope, one of the best and more competitive pistes of the entire Alps. The slope has 2 routes, the Star and the Tour: the first for experts - 3,5 km long and with a total gradient of 36% - and the second - almost 6 km long with a total gradient of 22% - suitable for all, exciting for the length and the variability of the descent.
Skiers can enjoy the snow on numerous and different ski runs and the snowboarders can experience the Ursus Snow Park in Madonna di Campiglio, one of the 5 best snowparks in the Alps with 70.000 m2 for the jumps of snowboarders and freestylers, or other 3 parks. More than 500 ski and snowboarder instructors follow, step by step, the first slopes of the beginners or help the advanced skiers to improve their skill.
