STREET VIDEO OF TRENTO - GIRO AL SASS
"Giro al Sass", as it is known among Trento’s citizens, is a traditional walk through the historical centre of Trento, along an itinerary that leads to the discovery of some of the city’s most fascinating as well as historically and artistically significant squares and streets. The walk, along a course that is only for pedestrians and closed to vehicle traffic, ideally begins at the Castello del Buonconsiglio, crosses through Piazza Duomo and ends in Piazza Fiera, the place where the famous Christmas market is held at Christmas time. The street video shows a few sections of this itinerary, giving the viewer a participatory impression of the city life, its most important attractions and the magical atmosphere of the Christmas market.
GIRO AL SASS: starting from Castello del Buonconsiglio, the 13th century residence of Trento’s prince-bishops and today the premises of the Provincial Art Museum, the walk continues through the historical centre, along Via del Suffragio into Via Belenzani where the Town Hall stands together with several other splendid frescoed palazzos.
PIAZZA DUOMO : this square is the heart of Trento and one of Italy’s most beautiful. It is defined by the Cathedral, the Civic Tower, the Diocesan Sacred Art Museum and the Neptune fountain.
MERCATINO DI NATALE: this market is set up in the enchanting setting of Piazza Fiera, closed in by the merlons of the city’s Medieval walls. The wooden A-frame huts offer Christmas decorations, handcrafted objects and local food and wine specialities.
