Summer in Canazei is a celebration of traditions and sport.

Canazei – containing four localities Gries, Canazei, Alba and Penia – is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Trentino, thanks to its strategic position close to Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella and Passo Fedaia. Nestled in an amazing natural valley, Canazei has always been very attentive to preserve its traditions, especially as for Ladin habits and customs, and therefore dancing, performing and cultural organization were founded.

Many events are held in the summer season, both concerning sport and traditions, such as the Dolomites Skyrace, a high altitude trail running and Te anter i tobiè in July, when the distinctive barns representing Ladin culture are opened to public to celebrate past-time arts and crafts. In late summer Canazei hosts a legendary traditional folk parade called Gran Festa da d’istà, on occasion of which all the representatives of Ladin people meet in the town.

Canazei is a wonderful mix of nature, sport, events, culture, relax and nightlife, with its wide range of pubs, piano bars and clubs.

On the foot of the Marmolada, the Queen of the Dolomites, Canazei provides dramatic high altitude walking, hiking and trekking opportunities as well as a number of leisure facilities, including the new Dòlaondes Center (swimming pools and wellness center) and its famous Ice Skating Stadium in Alba, where you might see the local Ice Hockey team HC Fassa Ferrarini, which currently plays in the National A-league Championships.

With its four localities of Gries, Canazei, Alba and Penia, Canazei is one of the most well-known tourist resorts throughout the Alps, thanks also to its strategic position next to the largest ski area throughout the Alps. Directly linked with the Giro del Sellaronda, Canazei is part of the Dolomites Superski circuit, with 4 ski areas within easy access from the village. The Belvedere, the Ciampac, the Col Rodella and the Marmolada are actually included in the wide offer dedicated to ski and snowboard lovers.

Opportunities offered to cross-country skiers are numerous too: ski-trails for any difficulty level and at all altitudes, such as the Ciampac ring at 2,100 meters a.s.l. Canazei is an important Alpine centre renowned for its international sport events, such as the Sellaronda Skimarathon, a night-time downhill ski race.
