Winter
Skating and curling, a Christmas atmosphere and traditional food-&-wines warm up the winter in Pinè and Valle di Cembra
The Pinè Plateau lies North-East of Trento, at an average height of 900 meters. Both Lake Serraia and Lake Piazze are located here and have been a popular tourist destination for several decades now. Vine-grown terraces endow the area with the typical look of the Valle di Cembra valley. Prestigious wines (Müller-Thurgau) and local schnapps can be tasted in numerous cellars and distilleries throughout the Cembra area, together with local dishes, which feature the genuine flavours of the mountain tradition.
Land is left to rest during the winter and the whole area benefits from this peaceful atmosphere. In Valle di Cembra, winter is introduced by the "Divin Ottobre", featuring weekends dedicated to food and wine events, and comes with the living nativity scene performed in Albiano, while the Pinè Plateau turns into the Paese dei presepi (the town of nativity scenes) with its Christmas market, lots of entertainments and games for kids.
The Ice Rink Pinè stadium - a federal CONI sport centre - features speed skating, artistic skating and broomball, while the Palacurling in Cembra is obviously the main venue for curling. National and international sport events are held non-stop throughout the winter season.
Cultural and religious attractions are the Santuario di Montagnaga Sanctuary in Piné and the Madonna dell'Aiuto in Segonzano.
