Summer
The Dolomites and natural surroundings of uncomparable beauty for a quality holiday experience
The gorgeous amphitheatre of the Dolomites, the Lagorai mountain range, the beauty of the Parco Naturale Paneveggio Pale di San Martino nature reserve form the setting for an unforgettable holiday experience at San Martino di Castrozza, Primiero and Vanoi, packed with a great variety of natural, sport and cultural attractions and opportunities. This is the easternmost section of Trentino, where the Dolomites reach their highest and show off their most spectacular shapes. A small Alpine capital, S. Martino di Castrozza is a winter sport resort with a lively and buzzing atmosphere, just north of the broad Primiero valley. The nearby region of Vanoi has gained a longstanding reputation as the green heartland of Trentino.
Visitors here will find no end of things to do: hiking excursions up to the mountain refuges and grazing pastures, known locally as "malghe", fixed rope routes, as well as mountain-bike trails, sports climbing venues, horse riding and nordic walking. The Trekking delle Leggende is a 200 km network of trails inspired by the myths and legends of the Dolomites.
In summer, visitors can enhance their holiday experience with music, culture and traditional folk events, and children can join in too with the special Family Fun program.
Winter
Perfect winter Dolomite scenery in the Pale di San Martino area
Located inside the Parco Naturale Paneveggio Pale di San Martino nature reserve, San Martino di Castrozza is one of the skiing resorts that has made the history of tourism. The setting is the broad Primiero valley, dotted with picturesque and beautifully kept villages, where downhill and cross-country skiing can be practised at passo Cereda as well.
Skiing enthusiasts will find here 60 km of downhill ski-runs and 30 km of cross-country skiing circuits, in unique and suggestive surroundings. Nearby is Passo Rolle, at 2000 metres, where the ski-runs are open for up to five months a year. The ski area is served by fast modern ski lifts and entertainment is guaranteed by programmed snow systems, covering 95% of the tracks, night skiing facilities and two snowparks.
Children too can join in the fun, with playgrounds and dedicated activities.
The nature reserve is an fairy-tale backdrop to organized snowshoe hiking tours and ski alpinism. The nearby Vanoi valley, with its picturesque old villages and quiet forests, is another unspoilt and peaceful winter holiday destination.
