Winter
An unforgettable experience: arts, mountains, winter sports and genuine flavours
The city of Trento is located at the centre of the Valle dell´Adige. Both its geography and history - such as the Council held here in the 16th Century - have helped make Trento a repository of art and culture, featuring the Castello del Buonconsiglio, the towers, beautiful Renaissance palaces, churches, and museums as well as leading events held in the city. The Monte Bondone overlooks the city on the east, beyond the river, offering tourists spectacular views of the surrounding Alps and Dolomites.
Monte Bodone is one of the key centers of Alpine skiing. The first ski-lifts were built here; today, the ski area stretches across several different slopes on the mountains and is well-connected to the nearby town-regional capital by both public transport and the ski bus. A network of modern systems serves wide, sunny and advanced ski-runs, a snowpark, and a well equipped cross-country ski centre located in the Conca delle Viote. It also provides a programmed snow system to ensure top skiing conditions.
The fascinating Valle dei Laghi valley is located west of the city, behind Monte Bondone. It is overlooked by pools of water and dotted with romantic castles. Sweet vino santo, schnapps and distilled liquors are still manufactured here following traditional procedures.
The city of Trento stretches along the Valle dell'Adige valley towards the north, leaving behind a row of small towns, before reaching the vineyard gardens of the Piana Rotaliana. High-quality Trentino's wines and sparkling wines/spumanti are manufactured here by small cellars, skilled winegrowers, large winegrowing cooperatives as well as some by the most prestigious spumante-makers.
