Summer
A long valley net where nature still plays the leading role
In Western Trentino, from the Sarche road junction beyond Comano thermal baths, the Giudicarie valleys keep stretching all the way to the Tione basin, at the base of the Adamello Brenta Nature Reserve. They then merge with the Valle del Chiese valley that leads to Lake Idro, in the Brescia countryside. Rich in waters, pastures, woods and wild beauty, these valleys still boast an environment where nature plays the leading role. From the Valle del Chiese valley visitors have access to the Adamello Brenta Nature Reserve through the Val di Breguzzo, Val di Daone and Val di Fumo valleys.
The Giudicarie form a quiet and hospitable environment for holiday. The mid-mountain altitude of the villages, the mild climate and the wide selection of accommodation facilities make them also an ideal destination for sport teams during their athletic training sessions.
Among the sports to be practised: sport climbing, thanks to the training crags, the easy trails and more demanding trekking routes. Valle del Chiese offers traditional castles and villages of age-old farming origins that stretch out all the way to Lake Idro, a much-loved venue for sail, canoe and windsurf enthusiasts.
The local corn cultivation provides a famous flour to make polenta (maize porridge), known as the yellow flour of Storo.
Winter
In the Giudicarie valleys, winter features a unique atmosphere
Western Trentino host the Central Giudicarie valleys. Forming a charming basin around Tione called Busa, they are located at an height of around 600 metres at the feet of the Adamello Brenta Nature Reserve. The Upper Giudicarie Valley offers a traditional mountain scenery. The long and wide valleys, Val di Breguzzo and Val di Daone - that merges into Val di Fumo - stretch all the way through the protected area of the Reserve. The Valle del Chiese valley, which reaches Lake Idro, boast castles, villages of age-old farming origins and a large handcraft area.
Coming from the Lombardy region through Valle del Chiese, it is easy to reach Rendena, the twon that leads to Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio. These valleys guarantee holidays in a peaceful location and the chance to enjoy Brenta Dolomites fabulous ski areas.
Much closer, in Bolbeno, next to Tione, on the artificial snow system track, skiing-classes for children and young people are organized, as well as promotional races for groups and associations. Bolbenolandia is a very popular winter playground park where you can learn skiing while having the time of your life.
Ice climbing, ski-mountaineering and snow-shoe walking, preferably accompanied by a local Alpine guide, give the opportunity to enjoy an alternative winter holiday in the Giudicarie.
