Dolomiti Lagorai Bike
The Dolomiti Lagorai Bike identifies a Mountain Bike region covered by 1000 km off-road trails among woods, pastures, alpine lakes and two Nature Parks, Monte Corno Park to the West and Paneveggio Park to the East. The area is located in Eastern Trentino (northern Italy) and includes three valleys: Fiemme, Fassa and Valsugana.
The tracks invite riders to explore uncontaminated territories above 2000 m of altitude, in the heart of the Lagorai chain - with its wild summits and porphyritic rocks which retain water into numerous little lakes - and the Dolomite peaks of Latemar, Catinaccio and Sella - that last June were recognized by Unesco among the most beautiful mountains in the world and classified as World Heritage.
Dolomiti Lagorai Bike aims to enrich this route network with a number of local services thought for MTB enthusiasts, thus involving accommodation facilities, shops, rental shops, lift facilities, transports societies, schools and MTB instructors.
Promotion and communication services are entrusted to the tourist boards spread throughout the region (local tourist offices and Trentino central tourist board) with marketing actions and contacts with the media. The 3-year project, started out in 2009 with training for all the partners involved, will end in summer 2011 with a quality check on the provided services. In this lapse of time, the plan includes creating a website, digitizing all routes with GPS technology and marking them on the land.
Among the many suggested tracks, two amazing circuits really enhance the beauty of the area. One winds its way through the Dolomite peaks of Latemar and Catinaccio, the other rides amidst Lagorai valleys and lakes.

Latemar and Lusia Tour
The first part of the track, 33 km long, is suitable for all riders, as it is possible to carry the bike up to the mountain top via cable car. The tour starts from Predazzo towards Passo Feudo, where the view of the Dolomites is wonderful all the way to Passo Costalunga. Enchanting is also the passage around the emerald lake Carezza, that reflects the peaks of Latemar. The descent to Moena is thrilling, and here is the starting point of the second part of the track; 8 very steep km - when not using lift facilities - to reach Le Cune at 2200 mt of altitude, with magnificent view of the Pale di San Martino. Finally, a 13 km quick descent to the point of arrival in Predazzo, across meadows, woods and natural canyons cut by the waters of torrent Travignolo between overhanging rock walls.
Lagorai & Lakes Tour
It is a two-days itinerary stretching for 100 km. A panoramic ride along the Valsugana cycle lane (over 80 km long), or a convenient train transfer, connect the first quite easy part of the track to the more demanding second half.
The tour begins by pedalling along cycle paths and secondary roads to reach the foot of the hill dominated by the majestic Pergine Castle, then continues along lakes Caldonazzo and Levico. The track rides through the Valsugana valley, with beautiful view of the Lagorai (the largest mountain chain in Trentino) and the north-eastern face of mount Cima d'Asta (2847 mt). Then, proceeding through the wildest area of Lagorai, among porphyric rocks and protected wildlife, it climbs to Val Campelle, following mule paths and Great War trenches, up to Passo Cinque Croci, where we stop overnight at the mountain refuge Malga Conseria.
The following day, we continue along Val Cia down to the naturalistic oasis of the Vanoi valley and then up to Passo Brocon, with its majestic view of the other side of Cima D'Asta, the southern face. The tour ends with an exciting descent all the way down to Valsugana.
