Mountain & Garda Bike
A proposal by Trentino Marketing S.p.A. and the Tourist Offices of Ingarda Trentino, Rovereto and Vallagarina, Trento, Monte Bondone, Valle dei Laghi and the Valle di Ledro Consortium has led to a draft agreement which envisages the creation of a large integrated bike area, a circular route for mountain-bikes made up of self-contained sections.
Trentino has always been known to sports enthusiasts throughout Europe as a real paradise for outdoor activities, in particular for two fat wheels. Now it is creating a network of the region's natural resources and infrastructures and integrating the entire area lying at the foot of the Dolomites as far as the northern shores of Lake Garda, known by bikers for the beauty of its landscapes and the variety of its trails. The appeal that the lake area has had for mountain-bike aficionados over the years is the very reason that the name of the bike park, MOUNTAIN&GARDA BIKE, is linked to Garda, given the natural beauty of its surroundings and the infinite opportunities it offers for outdoor activities.
The new circuit will have a total length of around 200 km, of which 50% will be on unsurfaced roads, and a total height gain of 10,000 m. Each district will also have 2 trails and alternative routes for all-mountain or downhill bikes departing from the main circuit and crossing areas of interest which are already well-known to bikers in the whole of Europe: Monte Baldo, Tremalzo in Val di Ledro and Monte Bondone.
In order to provide a complete and integrated tourism focused on biking, accommodation providers, mtb schools and hire companies, specialist service providers, etc., will also be involved in order to ensure maximum convenience to all those who decide to take a real biking holiday in Trentino. Accommodation providers in the various districts, in particular, will be invited to collaborate on putting together a package of special facilities for guests (information packs, high nutrient meals and energy drinks, provision of packed lunches, equipment storage, equipped mini repair workshops, bike wash, etc.).
The first phase of the project is to designate the routes, put in place the trail, log the GPS coordinates of the circuit and set up a uniform system of easily readable sign-posting constructed from durable materials. This will be followed by dedicated mapping - both promotional and professional -, themed brochures, a road book with useful information for bikers, and a dedicated website from which it will be possible to download GPS coordinates and create personalised itineraries.
