With its 5 km length and 5,62 km2 width, Lake Caldonazzo is the biggest lake in Trentino. Until the beginning of the 19th century, its shores actually touched the town of Pergine, but then various land reclamation projects have reduced it to its present size. The lake features a number of lakeside establishments for waterskiing, and four sailing clubs, whose members can go sailing, windsurfing and canoeing. With regard to wildlife, despite the large-scale area population, it is not unusual to spot various species of birds of prey, especially in the afternoon hours. Bathing is possible from June to September, when the lake waters are definitely pleasant, between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius.
