Bresimo in the Maddalene, with its mineral water springs rich in iron and arsenic and its mountain paths

The rugged Val di Bresimo is located in the Maddalene Mountain Range, in the north-westernmost corner of the Val di Non valley. The Municipality of Bresimo - featuring the hamlets of Bevia, Bagni, Baselga and Fontana - enjoys a much favourable position straddled as it is between the Val di Non and Val d´Ultimo, which connect the Merano area with Val Venosta.

The early Medieval-Romanesque Sanctuary of S. Maria dell'Assunta in the Basilica of Baselga (a historical-artistic monument of national interest) houses a number of important frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries.

The recently refurbished Castello d'Altaguarda (or Altaguardia) on Monte Pin is located at 1,274 m above sea level, and is one of the highest fortified buildings in the Trentino region. From the castle tourists can admire majestic views over the entire valley. Other beautiful views can be enjoyed while travelling on the paths in the Maddalene, which take visitors on long enchanting walks up to Val di Rabbi and Val d'Ultimo.

Bresimo is equally magic for its numerous aged buildings, such as its smithies, mills and saw mills: "Una giornata a Bresimo" (a day in Bresino) is an ethnographic route which takes tourists on a visit to the Venetian saw mill, as well as to the ancient mill.

Renowned and acclaimed for centuries, its water springs are rich in iron and arsenic minerals, and still play a leading role in the spas featured by Bresimo.
