Summer
At the mouth of the wild Val Genova, Carisolo means an interesting and relaxing vacation
Located inside the Adamello Brenta Natural Reserve, Carisolo is the last town of Val Rendena. Its sunny and sheltered position, its ideal altitude and landscape makes Carisolo the ideal place for a relaxing and regenerating summer vacation. Set at the mouth of the wild and enchanting Val Genova, it is the perfect starting point for hiking tours both on the Adamello-Presanella group and to the Brenta Dolomites. It is also an excellent venue to practise numerous sports, such as fishing or mountain-biking on the beautiful Rendena bike-path.
Where River Sarca bends, in the Antica Vetreria glass area - in which the "Crystal factory" used to be operative until the second half of the 19th century - you will find a tiny museum focussed on history. The area also organizes glass-making classes held by internationally acclaimed masters and artists.
Perched on a peak overlooking the river and the Antica Vetreria glass area, the small church of Santo Stefano features the "Dance of death" painted by Simone De Baschenis. Still higher up, on the slopes of Monte Lancia, the tiny white church of San Martino - used to be an hermitage back in the Middle Ages - is another small gem offered by the area.
Carisolo is the home base for the state-of-the-art Surgiva Mineral water plant.
