Val di Sole's regional capital and gateway to the Stelvio and Adamello-Brenta Nature Parks
Nestled between two nature parks, the Stelvio and the Adamello-Brenta, Malè overlooks the Noce, and is the gateway to the natural highlights of Val di Sole. With its wide range of tourist offers, it is an excellent starting point to reach the skiing districts of Val di Sole, Folgarida-Marilleva and Pejo in winter, while being an ideal for hiking tours to the Brenta Dolomites and nature parks in summer.
Craftsmanship and commerce, farming and stock farming act as a backdrop to tourism in this modern town with its ancient origins. Its age-old roots are expressed in the etymology of its name "Maletum" (apple-growing farm) and in a number of archaeological findings, such as the votive tablet discovered here dating back to 200 AD. The Parish Church of Santa Maria harks back to 1178, while the deanery church of S. Maria Assunta dates back to the 16th Century.
The town also hosts several offices, such as the Tourist Promotion Office, as well as numerous cultural and sports activities - including the Centro Studi per la Val di Sole, which has established the Val di Sole Ethnographic Museum.
Malè's municipal area includes the outlying municipal districts of Bolentina and Arnago - at approximately 1,000 m above sea level - featuring a number of beautiful age-old churches, and a type of frontier farming still practised nowadays.
The trendiest facility in town is the new wellness and swimming centre, built to entertain both townspeople and tourists.
