Hikes and tours from the smallest village in Val Rendena
With a population of only 106, Massimeno is the smallest village of the Val Rendena valley, and is located on a terrace overlooking River Sarca. The houses are gathered around the large open square from which to enjoy a view taking in the valley and the Adamello-Presanella massif.
Massimeno offers easy walks with gentle uphill and downhills slopes, but there are also more difficult and more challenging walks.
From the granite fountain in the square a path climbs up to the little Medieval Church of San Giovanni Battista, which was decorated in 1534 by Simone Baschenis. Further up the wooded slope and along the wood road leads to the ridge of Malga Movlina mountain dairy and the barns of Plan (1746 metres a.s.l.), a viewpoint across to mount Adamello and the Vallon massif.
