A small, historic town with a mild climate, wine and scenery
Padergnone is a small town located between Trento and the Valle dei Laghi, where important archaeological discoveries have been scored. Set in an open basin near the lakes, this age-old town is surrounded by hills, valleys and a glacier-moulded landscape. It is the last town in the Valle del Sarca valley that grows olive trees, since it benefits from the so-called "Ora del Garda" - a breeze presenting it with its milder climate. Padergnone is the beating heart of the Trento farming community. Back in 1909, Lodovico Pedrini established the Consorzio Agrario to provide its members with healthy vines in order to combat vine louses. The town is also the "original source" of the Vin Santo (grapes are dried all winter on "arèles" - aerated rooms - before being crushed during the Holy Week. Vin Santo - Holy Wine - owes its name to this practice).
