Pinzolo: hospitality and untouched nature in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park
Pinzolo is a tiny jewel nestled amongst the Dolomites. Located in Val Rendena, at the foot of the road climbing up to Madonna di Campiglio, the town is a leading tourist destination which attracts both sport-lovers in winter and families during the summer season.
Pinzolo lends itself well as starting point for hikes to the granite massifs of Adamello and Presanella, as well as to the amazing exploration of the wilderness Val di Genova and the Brenta peaks offer. The town is located inside the Adamello Brenta Nature Park - one of the largest protected areas in the Trentino region. This uncontaminated natural oasis is rich in waters and features a wide range of flora and fauna.
From a historical point of view, Pinzolo is renowned for the presence of one of the first "Compagnia dei Battuti" in Trentino during the Middle Ages, as well as for the ancient church of S. Virgilio - dating back to 1362 - with its frescos by the Baschenis (the famous Trionfo della Morte [Triumph of Death] and the Danza Macabra [Macabre Dance]), which is considered to be the "Sistine Chapel" of this unique school.
A point of interest: in 1969, a monument was erected at the entrance of the town to commemorate the world-renowned knife-grinders of Pinzolo.
