A quintessential Primiero village, Mezzano offers views onto the peaks of the Dolomites
With its houses built in a typically rural style, Mezzano - whose name comes from "Mediarum" (land in the middle) - is a village in the Primiero area, that offers a breath-taking view of the peaks of the Dolomites. It is also a venue where prehistoric remains have been found.
Highlights include the numerous buildings and houses built in the traditional Primiero style. Nearby, at San Giovanni, you will find a small Alpine church, built in 1512 thanks to notary Ugolino Scopoli's endowment, which included the distribution of a free meal to all peasants of the area on the patron saint's day.
Visit worth are also val de Stua, a valley you can reach by following an easy path facing the magnificent view of the amphitheatre of the Pale di San Martino and surrounding mountains, and the val Noana valley, with its wild ravines, small waterfalls and a reservoir lake visible from the wide fields above.
