Because of its art and history, Rovereto is the destination of visitors most interested in art and history: the Mart, the Contemporary and Modern Art Museum, considered one of the most important in Europe, hosts important temporary and permanent exhibitions; the Civic Museum also produces an international Review of Archeological Films; the War Museum, in Rovereto Castle, documents WWI; the Bell of Peace every evening peals 100 times to commemorate the fallen of all wars.
The cultural offer in Rovereto is refined and includes a programme of innovative festivals such as Oriente-Occidente (East-West) dedicated to theatre and dance, and the International W. A. Mozart Festival in Rovereto dedicated to the famous musician who held his first concert in Italy in this city.
Rovereto boosts its tradition in applied arts in order to exalt the value and quality of local handiwork, and is a gymnasium-city as well. In cooperation with the Federation of Winter Sports, in fact, it is the official centre for the summer training of the Italian teams preparing for the Vancouver 2010 games.
Via the project C'entro in bici, Rovereto offers a free bicycle service to the public. The Trentino cycling paths system interconnects the city northwards with Trento and Bolzano and southwards all the way to the border with the Veneto region and with Lake Garda via Mori and Torbole.
