Geological treasures and traditional products in the Valle dei Laghi with its Mediterranean microclimate. Discover the town of Vezzano near Trento
Vezzano benefits from a strategic position stretching along the basin of the Valle dei Laghi, enjoying Lake Garda's Mediterranean microclimate and Terlago's Prealpine landscape. Elected to the status of a town in 1527 by Bishop Prince Cardinal Bernardo Clesio for the loyalty proved by its inhabitants during the Rustic War, Vezzano also features the nearby "Stoppani" geological trail with its glacial caves or Marmitte dei Giganti (approximately 20). The outlying administrative districts of Fraveggio, Ciago, Lon, Ranzo and Margone are located at 900 meters above sea level and give access to a steep road cut into the rock on the opposite mountain. From here visitors can enjoy a breath-taking view over Castel Toblino and the Valle dei Laghi. The wide road to Santa Massenza runs at the bottom of the valley and takes visitors trough a variety of prized wine (Nosiola white), schnapps, and oil producers (northernmost producers worldwide) as well as traditional broccoli growers. Wide Lake Vezzano, which shares its name with the town, hosts one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in Italy.
