Hikes and climbs to discover Vigo di Fassa
Perched on a large natural terrace in a dominant position over the valley, Vigo di Fassa features a view, which takes in the entire area from the Cima Undici and Cima Dodici peaks all the way to the Marmolada.
This sunny resort enjoys a privileged position as a point of departure for hundreds of hikes and climbs up to the Catinaccio group. By taking the up-to-date cable-way departing directly from the village, visitors can reach within few minutes the Ciampedìe at 1,998 a.s.l., and enjoy a breathtaking view. This magnificent natural terrace on the Dolomites also hosts a state-of-the-art and very popular Baby Park for kids of all ages - thanks also to the assistance guaranteed by the Kinderpark Ciampedie Laurin.
Vigo hosts the Ladin de Fascia Museum and the Ladin Cultural Institute, a propulsive centre for the study and care of the Ladin culture. Minor urban settlements such as San Giovanni, Vallonga and Tamion, still feature some interesting examples of Ladin architecture. Despite being destroyed by fire in 1921, the town still keeps numerous traces of its farming past and handcrafting culture. On the hill, at the edge of the forest, the sacred path of the Santa Giuliana Church guards over Vigo di Fassa.
