Sport and health: run for longevity!
From the enthusiasm and the constancy of a team of doctors and researchers of the Policlinico A. Gemelli, led by Prof. Francesco Landi, the first edition of the Longevity Run was born in 2018 in Rome: a day dedicated to sport and health, with the aim of raising public awareness of leading healthy lifestyles and encouraging the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
To take care of your own health is important at any age: longevity is not a gift of nature but you gain it step by step, as to cut the finish line of a running race.
It is not only a simple runninng race, but also prevention with the Longevity Check- up made by the doctors and researchers of the Policlinico A. Gemelli of Rome that will examine:
- the main 7 parameters of cardiovascular health (abstention from smoking, regular exercise, balanced diet, absence of overweight, cholesterol levels, blood pressure and glycaemia)
- the daily protein intake, both of animal and vegetal origin
- the body mass and the muscle performance
- the breathing function through spirometry
- the sleeping quality
At the end of the check-up, the participants will receive a results sheet with some suggestions for a correct and healthy lifestyle.
