The castles come to life!

Events and exhibitions in Trentino's castles

SUMMER 2024 - Towers, battlements, gates and arrowslits: did you know that there are around 300 castles in Trentino? Many of them have kept their ancient beauty intact, including Castello del Buonconsiglio in Trento, Castel Thun in Val di Non, and Castel Caldes in Val di Sole. Others are now in ruins, but are witnesses of a glorious past. They all tell the story of a borderland, in a strategic position between the Mediterranean and the Alps.

And while once upon a time the courtyards and halls rang with the voices of ladies, warriors and servants, now they are brought to life by exhibitions, wine tasting events, and many other initiatives for visitors of all ages, among the towers and ramparts.

A picnic on the lawn in Castel Nanno

A lush green garden, surrounded by towers and battlements: a fairy-tale location for a delicious picnic enjoyed barefoot. You’ll find a blanket waiting for you, spread out on the lawn in the shade of a tree, along with a wooden box with your packed lunch. In the afternoon, you can enjoy a visit to the castle.

Nighttime Tour of Castel San Michele

When the sun sets and the halls of the castle are lit by the moon, everything seems mysterious and the legends come to life. On Thursdays in July and August, at 21.30, you can visit Castel San Michele, in Val di Sole, with a torch in your hands, accompanied by a guide who will reveal the castle's secrets. An experience designed for families, but also fascinating for adults.

Glasses of Wine at Castel Valer, Val di Non

A visit to a castle in the midst of the vineyards of Val di Non, which still preserves its original splendour. Followed by a delicious glass of wine to enjoy on the castle's panoramic loggia, paired with tasters of traditional food products, prepared by the producers from the Strada della Mela e dei Sapori Association. The perfect occasion for a romantic afternoon.

All'armi all’armi at Castel Beseno

A fortress on a hill, not far from Trento, where the historic Battle of Calliano was fought in 1487. To relive this historical period, in August the castle hosts "All'armi all'armi", a traditional event with historical reenactments performed by groups from all over Europe. It is one of the most eagerly awaited summer events in Trentino.

One night in Castel Pergine

Treat yourself to a night in a castle this summer. Today, the walls of Castel Pergine, in Valsugana, house a hotel and elegant restaurant where you can enjoy gourmet food prepared with a creative twist. Just be careful on nights when there’s a full moon, as you might just run into the ghost of the white lady wandering the halls.
